From the Mush 2002 US tour with cLOUDDEAD, Reaching Quiet, BoomBip/Dose, Radioinactive, and Labtekwon. Nice footage from the LA and SF shows. Looks and sounds great.
At
the helm of 13 & God's self-titled debut album are two schools of
thought: the balloon-and-burst child psychology of doseone, jel, and Dax
Pierson (collectively themselves) on one hand, and the pinhole- in-paper
astronomy of the Acher brothers Markus and Micha, and Martin "Console"
Gretschmann (the core of The Notwist) on the other. Notwist drummer Martin
Messerschmid and guitarist Max Punktezahl each lend their skills to production,
Steffi Böhm of Ms. John Soda and Valerie Trebeljahr of Lali Puna
sing on several tracks, and both why? and pedestrian (among others) also
make cameos. This half-dozen-plus form a transcontinental supergroup of
very human proportions: American angst and honest ability, German composition
and countryside chill, and the simple recurring universal urge to locate
oneself within the folds of time and place.
The
Men of Station 12-inch is the world's first introduction to the musical
monument that is the 13 & God album-- the auspicious meeting of minds
and bodies that emerged from a German September shared by anticon's themselves
and The Notwist.
The next in the series...more Themselves live...more of what you've not come to expect...cuz...it's unexpected.
cLOUDDEAD ten
CD/LP On Ten cLOUDDEAD builds on all the elements that defined their debut: razor sharp vocal interplay, quirky found sound samples, ambient drone dreamscapes, lyrics that walk the line between observational and confessional, and a fair share of odd nosdam's drums slowed to a growl.Individually, Doseone, why? and odd nosdam are as prolific and fearless as anyone in new music today, but together as cLOUDDEAD they create music that captures all the promise of their individual talents in an unequaled sound. Ten is cLOUDDEAD's crowning achievement.

- the pelt | bound paperback with CD
the no music of aiffs is the companion piece to the duo's September 2002 release, the no music, which was picked as a New York Times top ten record by Neil Strauss. The original has been remixed down to its smallest intestine and back toward the light until only the order of its tracks remains intact. The record features a new themselves song along with guest remixers Controller7 and matth, Hrvatski, why?, Hood, alias, A Grape Dope (John Herndon), Fog, odd nosdam, The Notwist and Electric Birds. The CD is enhanced with two music videos - visual remixes of "poison pit" and "you devil you," directed by Ravi Zupa. the no music of aiffs offers an eerie and pleasantly eccentric intimacy that permeates this collage of a collage of a collage.
CD and 2LP themselves,(formerly them), are doseone and jel. the no music. is dose and jel's highly anticipated, second full length, an american ode to the exposed nerve. At times the soundscape is layered to the point of opacity, only to peel away and reveal the sometimes burried drum bone and sick sung skeleton beneath. the no music. sounds like the polyphony of all the machines in the factory that turn fetus heads into skulls. Part composition, part organized chaos.
them was originally released as a self-titled album by them in May of 2000 when little about anticon was known or understood; the record went out of print about a year after its release. For many, this album introduced the ground-breaking, genre-defying madness of the duo. jel's distinct sound naturally facilitates doseone's surreal vocals, evoking another world entirely. The record is a funhouse ride turned ugly-- through childlike daydreams and social rants, to hip hop bravado and just outright strangeness. Guests include Mr. Dibbs, moodswing9 and J.Rawls.
